A Disciple’s Prayer
By Paul Martin

Standing out here on a limb,
Doubt cuts me like a bitter wind.
Fear comes at me like a jagged sword
As I cling to your every Word.

I long to ruthlessly trust your plan
But it is hard some days to stand
In my weakness I bow my knee
And commit myself to Thee

Oh sovereign God of grace
Shine your mercy on my face
Be my strength for every day
As I seek to follow your ways
Take my days, moments, and years,
To spread the truth to all who hears
Bring your light to darkened towns,
And give hope and love to every frown.

As I walk the path you’ve given me
Bring comfort and peace to my family
Help them to be anxious for nothing
Give them rest and fill every longing.

Oh sovereign God of grace
Shine your mercy on my face
Be my strength for every day
As I seek to follow your ways
Take my days, moments, and years,
To spread the truth to all who hears
Bring your light to darkened towns,
And give hope and love to every frown

Song of Jonah
By Paul Martin

I journeyed to a foreign land,
Running away from your plan
I tried to hide my face from you
And act just like a shrew

I sailed onto the open sea
That nearly became the death of me
It swallowed me up into a darkness,
That forced me to face my sinfulness

Lord, hear my cry from depths of the ocean
Forgive me for my lack of devotion
I know you called me to be your voice,
In a world that is lost in chaos and noise.

Hear my song of submission
As I surrender to your mission
Use me to bring glory to your name
As I proclaim to the earth your fame.

Based on the Book of Jonah.
